UPDATE (10/7/12): Lady Gaga announced on her website that she will be donating $1 million to New York and the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief. "If it wasn't for NYC: the Lower East Side, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today," she said. "New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours."

After stars raised $23 million at NBC's Benefit Concert for Superstorm Sandy victims, New York native Lady Gaga has promised to lend a hand as soon as she gets a break from her "Born This Way" world tour.

Gaga, who was in Puerto Rico when the storm hit, said in a series of tweets: "East coast how are you holding up? How are you New York? Staying strong I hope, thinking of you all the time. Can't even watch news feed...I'll be there as soon as i can to help my old neighborhood. I'm on tour + can't let my fans down. I want to help with my hands with all of u. Don't even get me started on the jersey shore. I will never get over it. Aren't even enough Bruce (Springsteen) songs to fill the void. I love the jersey shore. I used to go when i was a little girl and buy penny candy with my daddy + go to the arcade."

Besides tweeting her support, Gaga also decided to perform "Marry the Night" a cappella at her concert in Costa Rica, and dedicated it to the Big Apple. "Here new york, i sang a song for you tonight," she tweeted with a link to the performance.

Gaga returns to the U.S. on Jan. 14 at her concert in Tacoma, Wash.
