After being fired from her judges' panel gig after just one season on "The X Factor," Nicole is thanking her lucky stars she landed the same gig overseas on the U.K. version of the show. She admits she's terrified of going broke after living in poverty before finding fame.
"To think of losing it [my fortune] scares me because I grew up with nothing," the singer who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Louisville, Ky. reveals. "We couldn't afford the luxury of getting a year book or school photos or anything like that. Mom got all my clothes from second-hand stores and garage sales."
Reflecting on her own childhood, the 34-year-old responds to inquiries about whether or not she plans to one day become a mother herself. "I think five years might be a good time to look at having children," Scherzinger says of her plan to put off motherhood until her 40s. "But I think whenever it's meant to happen is when it will happen."
Scherzinger has been in a relationship with Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, 27, since 2008. Still, she's in no rush to start a family, and is encouraged by her Hollywood peers' decisions to delay motherhood with the help of new reproductive and fertility advancements.
"Right now, I'm focusing on my career. I see lots of women having beautiful children later in life now. And, if not, just freeze your eggs."
