Jennifer Hudson Family Murders: Has the Singer Found Closure?

Earlier this year, Jennifer Hudson's estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, was sentenced to three terms of life in prison for the 2008 murder of Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Balfour was also sentenced to an additional 120 years for other crimes, including aggravated kidnapping. His appeal for a new trial was later denied.

But, that doesn't necessarily mean closure for Jennifer. The singer/actress tells Redbook magazine that despite justice being served, she doubts she'll ever fully heal from her family tragedy.

''Do I feel relief? Yes, to a certain extent," she revealed. "I mean, you can never fully get complete closure -- whatever that means. Is there really ever a point of closure? Do I feel healed? No.''

Remarkably, Hudson has forgiven the man who brutally murdered her family members, insisting it wasn't all his fault. ''It's how he was brought up," she said of her sister's former husband.

"We tried to offer love, but you were so far gone, that you couldn't even see that," Hudson said, referring to her one-time brother-in-law. "A lot of things came out that we didn't even know about from his upbringing, which is like he never had a chance. Had you had the love my mother gave us, or the background that some have, then you would've stood a chance.''
