There's no doubt a special bond between Justin Bieber and his mom, Pattie Mallette, who he recently took as his special date to the American Music Awards.

But when Justin read Mallette's memoir, Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom, which addressed the tough times she went through before being a single mom to Justin, including stories of sexual abuse and depression, the singer admitted it was hard to get through each admission.

According to Contact Music, JB said it was "tough" reading what his mom dealt with. "Yeah, it was a lot for me to hear," he shared. "But I'm older now. When I was younger, my mom never told me any of this stuff. It was definitely hard reading those stories, but I'm supportive of her writing the book. It's cool.''

Mallette's parents, Diane and stepfather, Bruce, also said that reading their daughter's story was shocking. ''There are three sides to every story," Bruce said. "There's one side, the other side, and then there's the truth.''

Earlier this year, Mallette had said that reading the book "was difficult" for Justin.

The book, which was released in September, was listed at #17 on The New York Times' Best Seller List during its first week on sale.

Meanwhile, while the Biebs and Selena Gomez haven't been spotted out together Thanksgiving week, the Biebs seems to be concentrating on his personal fitness instead of his love probs. After previously stating that he's "getting sexy for the ladies," JB tweeted a shirtless pic of his progress.
