New York City will be happily spreading holiday cheer tomorrow night (Nov. 29) during the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center, and a list of singers will be getting in the spirit, too.
Trace Adkins, Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green, Victoria Justice, Scotty McCreery, "The Voice"s Chris Mann, Rod Stewart, and Il Volo's performances will be televised on NBC from 7 PM to 9 PM ET. There will also be special appearances by Billy Crystal and Bette Milder.
Carey has been gearing up for the celebration by promoting her holiday single, "Christmas Time Is in the Air Again," which is from her 2010 album, Merry Christmas II You and available on iTunes.
"Victorious" star Justice is excited to be part of the tradition, now in its 80th anniversary. She tweeted after the announcement, "I will b [sic] performing @RockCenterNYC 4 this year's Tree lighting..been watching it since I was little #DreamComeTrue."
Adkins will be performing his new song, a Celtic-inspired "We Three Kings" at the lighting. "It's a good reminder of what the Christmas spirit is really about," the singer shared.
"Idol" 2011 winner McCreery, who has a Christmas album out now, was happy to be a last-minute addition to the performer's list. "Excited to have just been added to the Christmas in Rockefeller Ctr show," he tweeted Nov. 24.
Mann also has a Christmas album, Home for Christmas, and tweeted that he was "pinching himself" over the being part of the event.
According to a NBC press release, the tree is 80 ft. tall and estimated to be 80 years old. 30,000 lights (five miles of wire!) will light up the Norway Spruce.
