The Wanted's Max George has come to the defense of Lindsay Lohan after she was arrested early Friday morning (Nov.30) in a nightclub fight in New York City. The band members were reportedly there hanging with the actress when a club-goer, Tiffany Mitchell, alleges that Lindsay hit her in the face, but George said the whole incident was blown out of proportion.

"We were just out and there was a bit of trouble with someone in the club," George told JoJo Wright's radio station. "But it got blown out of proportion to be honest."

George also cleared up rumors that he was the cause of the fight, shooting down claims that Lindsay was jealous he was talking to Mitchell. "It wasn't me," he said. "I didn't instigate anything. It was nothing to do with me."

George also added that he wants to hang with Lindsay again, and that the two are still friends. "She's cool," he shared. "She was a top girl. She's good fun ... she's a nice girl."

The fight reportedly went down after the Justin Bieber concert, (where the Wanted opened for the Biebs, and Lindsay was spotted attending the Madison Square Garden show). The Wanted and Lindsay were partying at Club Avenue when the fight broke out.

For Lindsay's part, she's also reportedly denying the incident and how everything went down. TMZ reports that Lindsay is "adament" that she did not punch Mitchell in the face, and says she got angered because she thought Mitchell and her friends were trying to steal her purse.

According to TMZ, Lindsay says that Mitchell, a fortune teller, approached Lindsay in the club for a psychic reading, and during that conversation, Lindsay's friends noticed that Mitchell's friends had stolen her purse. When Lindsay confronted Mitchell about her missing bag, she reportedly called Mitchell a "gypsy" but denies ever hitting her.

According to TMZ, Lindsay was booked for a third degree misdemeanor assault, given a desk appearance ticket and released several hours after she was taken into custody.

Tiffany Mitchell has reportedly hired attorney Gloria Allred to assist in her claims against Lindsay.

Besides George, the Wanted's band member Jay McGuiness also seems to be on Team Lindsay -- he was spotted wearing a a homemade "Free Lindsay" T-shirt yesterday.
