After hosting "The Sing-Off" from 2009-2011, Nick Lachey is set to host a new singing talent show called "The Winner Is."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is set to air on NBC and will feature contestants of all ages singing in front of celebrity judges for a $1 million cash prize. Contestants will reportedly sing a duel, and both performances will be judged. The site reports that the contestants will have the option to cut a deal -- if they have doubts about how their performance compared to their opponent's, they can choose to leave the show in exchange for cash. If they choose to remain in the game, it's up to the judges if they've made it to the next round.

NBC spokesman Paul Telegdy told Hollywood Reporter of the announcement, "Nick is a versatile, seasoned host, and we are thrilled to be working him. With Nick at the helm on air and an original format ... that includes surprising and competitive twists, viewers are sure to be immersed and entertained."

Auditions start in January. If you're interested in applying, visit www.singinggameshow.com.

Lachey, former 98 Degrees band member, welcomed his first son, Camden John, with wife Vanessa Minnillo in September.

No problem with Lachey, but do we really need another talent show?

Best of luck to Nick in this new venture - we in the Cincinnati/OHIO area love and support him...he's a good guy, likeable, and relatable, good personality.

Was really upset Nick wasn't chosen for Live with Kelly.. All I see when I look at Michael Strayhan (sp?) on the show is that huge gap between his teeth!!! Very distracting!!! Nick would have been 100 times better!!!

I agree, I haven't watched Live with Kelly since they chose Michael over Nick Lachey. Nick would have been a hundred times better.

You can count on one hand how many really talented people were discovered on these so-called talent shows. There are not many memorable ones. Carrie Underwood, about the only real stand-out. Kelly Clarkson...OK...the rest are wanna-be's and karaoke impersonators and a dime a dozen......like you see in any local bar.
