If The Script's single "Six Degrees of Separation" tugged just a little too hard on your heartstrings, there's a reason why. The song was penned after frontman Danny O'Donoghue parted ways from his long-time love!

"I split up with my long-term girlfriend and that happened to fall in the period where we were writing an album," he told the Daily Star. "I'm still single and I tend to fluctuate between being in a relationship, going out of one, being in a relationship, going out of one."

Suffering from a broken heart has one advantage -- being able to relate to fans. The song laments the different stages of breaking up, including faking smiles and realizing that it takes time to heal.

"You can always expect The Script to be writing about what's going on in our lives," the singer says.

Danny isn't letting the heartbreak get him down. He jumped into the spotlight, becoming a coach on the UK version of "The Voice."

"The Script backed it and I still really believe in the show," he says. "I know the ratings kind of dropped off towards the end when people had become familiar with the format but I was excited by it. I'm still excited about going in to do the second series later this month. I feel that we needed it to work. It was an amazing vehicle and I'm blessed the BBC gave me the chance to do it."
