Miley Cyrus' Dog Dies: Singer Devastated by Death of Beloved Puppy, Lila

Miley Cyrus is in mourning.

The singer tweeted to fans earlier today (Dec. 11) that her beloved 2-year-old Yorkie Mix, Lila, sadly passed away.

In a series of tweets, Mi broke the news to fans, saying, "can't think of one good reason to get out of bed today ... for everyone asking ... I have never been so hurt in my life. My heart has never been so broken ..... Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away ... Broken. Gonna go MIA for a bit. Need some healing time. Thank you to everyone who has sent love my way. I need it."

According to E!, the dog was hospitalized two months ago, but Miley gave no reason for Lila's death as of yet. Back in February, Miley clearly showed her unconditional love for her furry friend. "Why would I need human friends? dude, Lila will ALWAYS love me & that's more than we can say about most humans," she tweeted.

Miley, a huge dog-lover, still has other pooches to take care of -- including Ziggy, Floyd, Happy, Mary Jane and Penny Lane. In fact, it was just reported that the her dogs are so important to her, they were put in her prenup agreement that she has with fiance Liam Hemsworth.

I feel sympathy for Miley Cyrus after the loss of her beloved Lila. However, I own two little terriers, one is 5lbs. and the other is 2.5lbs. Teacup pets are adorable and desireable. HOWEVER, when you bring an animal that size into your home, you must realize that by their very size they need to be watched CONSTANTLY! Having all the dogs play together might sound like a cute idea, but is just a set up for disaster! Pets, like small children, have strong emotions and can become jealous very quickly. If the jealousy is acted upon, whomever is smallest may end up dead. I rescued a Doberman Pinscher who was really stable and loved the little dogs. However, one day I saw the tiny dog climb on top of the Doberman's food and growl at the Doberman!!! I was lucky!!! The Doberman just walked away but it could have had mortal consequenses! I made sure the tiny dogs were crated while the big dog ate. Can't blame a dog for being a dog.

Losing a beloved pet is heartbreaking, and I am sorry for your loss. I'm sure she was lucky to have you, and when you are ready.. please consider a rescue dog. I got a shorkie as a rescue and he is the best little dog ever 8)

A two year old yorkie mix dying? Odd. Can feel for her and now she has a redeeming feature, she loves dogs. Hope they are all rescues. Good for her taking them in. Maybe she will think about donating time, energy and money to animal rescue groups to save the over ten million dogs and cats killed every year by thoughtless humans. Just an appearance from her will raise money to spay and neuter dogs, a signed copy of a record album, an article of clothing, anything to raise money to avoid death in pounds.

Hi Art & Nan

I can certainly relate. I lost my Queenie in 1976 and I still miss her.

She says "Why would I need human friends?" She needs some professional help.

I don't think so -- I tend to agree with her. Not every one likes to be around people, and an animal loves unconditionally. I'd rather be around animals than humans, any given day of the week
