I quit watching PBS on TV because of their constant fundraising. They wonder why they are hurting for funds, when they make it impossible to enjoy the programming. Now they are doing the same on the Internet. Forget it, as life is too short to put up with this.

The commercials all are very distracting and annoying. I am choosing to not look at any of the items that could be of interest because of the annoying commercials. I understand some of them are needed to help support the news, but they have become like an infestation. So I have stopped watching most of the news here on the computer because of the commercials and I won't purchase thier products as a protest to the amount of commercials every place on the computer.

That and the fact that the link is never what's on the page when you get there is very tiring.

For the same reason they are on TV -- this is America, we are capitalists, we are major CONSUMERS. and the goal of capitalism is to do EVERYTHING possible to get you to part with your money. Some of it is subtle, mostly it's not. It's the internet, not your computer is where you see commercials. Disconnect your computer from the internet and use it for what it can do before someone decided to connect it to the internet and you will be safe from commercials. But connect it to that selling machine called the internet and you give business a way into your home where the entire reason for their existence is to SELL YOU STUFF. The purpose of 50% of everything that is put in front of you on your computer when it's on the internet is to get you to BUY something, Only about 10% is real information, and the rest is pornography, which, of course is just another way to get you to spend your money, so, yah, there are lots of commercials and commercials that mask themselves as other stuff, but they are still commercials. Get use to it.

Sorry, but I think this should be reevaluated on a number of levels.

First, the goal of capitalism is *not* simply to get all your money. Capitalism, by definition, is selling at a profit and reinvesting the profit into covering cost and capital expansion (more workers, factories, research, etc). What you may be referring to is "sales" - but again this is wrong. The goal of sales is to help direct the customer to the product or service that best fits his needs, even if it belongs to the competition. So what you're really referring to is the goal of a sleazy half-wit who doesn't understand any of this, and just wants added commission on his pay check.

Secondly, the purpose of advertising is to let customers know a product exists, or to build brand image. If I have the cure for cancer with me right now, and do not advertise it, then millions of people will continue to die. Now you'd be 100% right in saying that advertising has become INTRUSIVE and ANNOYING. I couldn't agree with you more. Over-advertising often has the opposite effect, as does advertising to the wrong audience. If I click on a news article about a skimpy outfit, and a car ad has to play first... why? What's the point? What does me being interested in a half-dressed woman have anything to do with cars? This is a mistake of the advertiser. They should, at the very least, match up their ads with the proper audience.

HI,

JUST ONE THING , ISN'T IT ENOUGH THAT WE HAVE TO SIT THROUGH COMMERCIALS ON TV, EVEN AT THE MOVIES NOW.... BUT TO GO ON THE COMPUTER AND HAVE THEM ON ALMOST EVERY SITE YOU REQUEST IS GETTING A LITTLE ABSURD. SOME OF THEM GIVE YOU THE OPTION OF "SKIPPING IT" IF YOU CHOOSE BUT MOST OF THEM YOU HAVE TO SIT THROUGH TILL THE END, NOT FAIR!!!!!

Swift = looking angelic?? That's a joke. Has slept with more boys than practically anyone. Trash faking innocence.
She's not even as pretty as she was when she was when she was younger. And still singing those stupid songs.

Really? You know that for absolute fact do you? Just because you can't get laid, don't act like there's something wrong with those who can. Maybe if you took a shower and lost some weight your chances would be better.
