Lady Gaga, Marijuana Love: Singer Shuns Weed on New 'ARTPOP' Album

Lady Gaga has always been open about her love of Mary Jane. The pop star has smoked weed onstage in front of thousands of fans and even slapped on some marijuana leaf-shaped pasties for her "Cannabis Queen" Halloween costume this year in an homage to her favorite herbal refreshment.

However, Gaga insists she shunned the drug on her upcoming studio album, ARTPOP. "NO WEED ON ARTPOP. NO," she told fans during an online chat on her social networking site, littlemonsters.com (via Ultimategaga.net). "Weed in the bathtub though. Hahaha," she added.

Does that mean she stopped smoking while recording the album, or that she makes no mention of her beloved Mary Jane in her lyrics on the upcoming record?

Either way, the announcement seems a bit contradictory. It was just a few months ago that Gaga tweeted that she was going for a "stoned disney [sic] princess kinda vibe" on her latest studio effort. This comment was a response to her makeup artist, Tara Savelo, naming ARTPOP the "hardest marijuana record."

"ARTPOP is very risky," Gaga added during the chat. "If you're not taking a risk you're not breaking any boundaries."

ARTPOP is due out in 2013.
