Blue Steel Pose Popularity: Every Pop Star Seems to Copy Derek Zoolander

There's more to life than being really, really ridiculously good-looking -- or so says Ben Stiller's iconic character, Derek Zoolander! However, the fictional male model's smoldering looks, especially his trademark Blue Steel pose, definitely helped him gain popularity in Stiller's 2001 comedy Zoolander.

Depsite the flick being over 10 year old, the AOL Music staff couldn't help but notice that the "Blue Steel" pose -- smoldering look, lips pursed, piercing gaze -- is still quite prevalent on red carpets today. From Britney Spears to Katy Perry, many of our favorite artists are guilty of posing with a little extra Zoolander pizazz!

It's a strange demographic. Saw Courtney Cox on Leno the other night and nothing above her lower lip even moved anymore. These people are getting hideous.

Nikki comes across as silly and fun in this pose. Probably the most sincere out of the bunch of them. That and Katy's pose is pretty good and fun too. Not too serious.
