Kelly Clarkson Engagement Cursed? 'Bad Omen' That Led Singer to Believe Her Relationship Was Doomed

These days, Kelly Clarkson is a blissful bride-to-be, all smiles after boyfriend Brandon Blackstock popped the question with a huge canary diamond sparkler just a few weeks ago. But, that wasn't always the case. The singer says she actually feared her relationship with the talent manager was doomed from the start, thanks to what she believed to be a bad omen on their very first date.

"We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February," Kelly tells Cosmopolitan. Days later, Clarkson went out on her first date with Blackstock on February 11, 2012 -- the same day that the legendary Whitney Houston was found dead after drowning in her hotel room bathroom.

"This is the funniest/worst thing ever," Kelly says. "One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date. I was like 'This is a bad omen.'"

Luckily, it's so far so good for the newly engaged couple. "Brandon's totally the one. I've never been so happy," Kelly gushes, calling the night he proposed "the happiest night of my life."

"Six years I was single before this. I've never been truly loved like I am right now."

FXWEB---Do you know her personally?? Do you sing??? She is not fat, she is not ugly, and she is a great singer. Who did she harm to get to where she is?? It's surprising that we have never heard of any of this as long as she has been in the public eye. Maybe you can enlighten us and let us know the terrible details--and while you are at that, how about you post a picture of yourself so we can pass judgement on you??

She is fat, she is ugly and the only reason she's marrying this guy is cause it's Reba's kid. She knows she'll always be fat and ugly so why not marry into fame and money ??

Kelly & Brandon both deserve to be happy. Their first official date may have been on the day of Whitney Houston's passing (R.I.P.), but technically they have known each other for years because of her main American Idol- REBA. They both will be fine, and make a great couple. Not to mention, Brandon is the firs guy who actually understands the demands that are put on her, seeing as how he is Blake Shelton's co-manager along with his father, Narvel. And Narvel also represents Kelly & his wife, Reba. And for those saying the only "bad omen" is marrying into this family and going country...............I'm guessing that's just the green-eyed monster showing. First- let's all be honest here. Who wouldn't want Reba as their mother-in-law........whether your a big country fan or not? She is one of the most successful music artists of all time (all genres), and almost all artists today have listed her as someone they have watched growing up. There are worst people in the world as your mother-in-law......just saying. Secondly, Kelly has said over and over she will never be just pop, and she will never be just country. That's not the kind of albums she wants to make. But she does like to incorporate the sounds of all genres into her music...........and there's no rule she can't.

The only "bad omen" for Ms. Clarkson is that she married into the Blackstock family, and pretty soon they will have her singing country duets with every cheesy hat act on the freakin' planet. YOU ROCK, Kelly...!!! Stay away from the cheese!
