Simon Cowell 'X Factor' Profit: Reality TV Boss Scores Huge Payday

Well it looks like all the time, effort and multimillion dollar celebrity-judge paychecks Simon Cowell put into the second season of "The X Factor" certainly paid off! The boss of the hit reality singing competition scored a major payday thanks to profits from the FOX show. The icy head judge's TV production business, Simco, has made a staggering $52.4 million in profit!

That's up from $22 million in pre-tax profit last year! Since its debut season, the U.S. edition of "The X Factor" went from accounting for 11% of Simco's total revenue to almost 42%, The Guardian reports.

But Cowell, who made a cool $90 million in 2012 alone according to Forbes, will have to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to top himself for the show's upcoming third season. Set to debut later this year, Season 3 will be the first cycle without Epic label boss L.A. Reid on the judges' panel. Reid announced his plans to leave the show just days before his mentee, country crooner Tate Stevens, was crowned the Season 2 winner.

The fate of superstar judge Britney Spears is also up in the air, though Demi Lovato is expected to return for her second season on the panel.

Both ladies may have had a hand in bringing in a younger viewership, which the show saw a an increase in this season. "The X Factor" also became one of the most mentioned TV shows on social media platforms, boasting the highest average social activity per episode in 2012 (excluding sports programs).

As we await Season 3, it appears Simon plans to cash in on more of the show's contestants with rumored plans to sign first runner-up Carly Rose Sonenclar and second runner-up Fifth Harmony to his Syco record label.

Britney Spears was a total waste of space. She had nothing to say to benefit any of the singers, and usually only said a very few words at all. And what was with that sour look she had when she was on stage the last two weeks with her singer? I will miss L. A. Reid, and Demi was OK, but Britney needs to go.

Actually, Simon has a good payday every year because he does a lot more than sit in a judges chair. In all the programs that he appears, both here & in the UK, he is the Producer...or his production company is. Also, the winners of his talent shows (and many of the runners up) sign an agreement to belong to his line of record companies. You remember when he had his face in his hands & sighed a big sigh at the end of Susan Boyle's first audition? He wasn't enamored with Susan...he was thinking about the dollar signs floating into his bank acct. Simon owns a lot of "stuff"...and all that "stuff" makes him a great deal of money!

....He did well, brought in Britney for ratings, although she was a let down and had little to offer....And she brought on the sound of crickets as soon as she finished her one liners....well, "freedom of mind" is what counts and Simon does not have that, money only brings on more responsibity and really can't buy true happiness.....a large house, a flashy sports car are just short term arousal's....true happiness is freedom of mind.....
