Taylor Swift, Harry Styles Breakup? Couple May Have Called It Quits (REPORT)

Can Taylor Swift ever escape heartache?

After a whirlwind romance with One Direction's Harry Styles, reports hit today (Jan. 7) that the star couple have broken up after getting into a fight on Jan. 4 while vacationing in the British Virgin Islands.

The two spent three days together on the trip, happily posing for pictures with fans when they arrived. But Taylor was seen boarding an early-morning flight shortly after their reported fight. In a picture, Taylor was seen sitting alone on a boat on her way to the airport, looking glum.

A source told UK's Daily Mail, "Yes, I can confirm they have split up ... they are two young stars at the top of their game so who knows what will happen in the future."

As Taylor headed back to the states, Harry kept the party going, traveling to Richard Branson's private resort on Necker Island, where he was photographed talking with fans in a hot tub.

Harry returned to London today (Jan. 7).

While the couple have not spoken publicly about each other or their rumored split, Taylor did post a cryptic tweet on Saturday, writing, "...'til you put me down." The line is from her song "I Knew You Were Trouble." The full lyric is "Flew me to places I'd never been/'Til you put me down."

The pair were first linked in November 2012.

Why is it a shock to anyone. While Taylor started off with a good girl image, she has dated someone for a few months since at least she has become established. She should watch out though, because it isn't going to help her image much.

cjesmom3: I like your comment. She really is young, beautiful and talented but not really grown up in this twisted world we live in. It's hard to keep your bearings at 20, I should know as I am now 65. I had a reall yrough time at her age. So much expected from yourself and yet no real experience to go by. If you had great parents to observe, you are really ahead of the game, if not you usually mess up!

She can,t sing....she is not country.....she is really just a ................. Fill in the blanks. We turn her off on the radio, even the dj,s can,t stand her........who is backing this insignificant ball of fluff. She is disgusting .......

LOL! Awww...cut this girl a break! She's 23! It's high school played out on the public arena. She's been in show business for quite a while, so she has no concept of the reality of relationships because she's been surrounded with yes people and adoring fans. She does have a work ethic and talent. She just needs more guidance so she can write about adult matter. (It's refreshing really, she's not covered in tattoos, nor does drugs or has a violence problem at this point)

Well, she did get a tattoo recently, I'm sorry to say. So disturbing to see these women with perfect skin marring their bodies with idiotic sayings and the names of people who will be their personal history by dawn the next day. The first thing, IMHO, that Taylor needs to do is stop going after boys. She is a young WOMAN, not a child, and what a 23 year old woman wants with an 18 year old is a mystery to me. It has to be control, and she has surely learned after mistake number 40 that being 5 years older doesn't put her in control. She needs a PARTNER, not someone she can babysit or someone who has been through 150 lovers of his own. It's a dangerous, diseased world and I hope she's being careful.
