"Britney loves Simon [Cowell], she likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music," a so-called "unimpeachable" source reveals. While previous rumors suggested that the pop star may have been fired from the show, the insider insists Brit is leaving on her own accord.
"She has made the decision that she won't be returning," a source tells PEOPLE.
"She wants to concentrate on her music," the PEOPLE source adds. As Brit revealed herself just weeks ago, she's back in the studio and hard at work on her eight album. The TMZ source adds that Spears is seriously considering going on tour in conjunction with the upcoming studio release.
The news of Britney's departure comes just weeks after fellow judge L.A. Reid announced he wouldn't be returning for "The X Factor" Season 3, in a bid to refocus on his day job as chairman and CEO of Epic Records.
Looks like Simon has his work cut out for him if he hopes to top the staggering $52.4 million profit his TV company Simco made, largely off Season 2 of the hit show.
