LeAnn also admits great regret over starting a relationship with her "Northern Lights" co-star while both were married to their previous spouses. "The infidelity side of it -- that's definitely not who I am. I fell in love with someone and these overwhelming emotions... it's almost, your body won't let you stop it. But there were so many people hurt. That's what I struggle with on a daily basis, knowing that there was a better way to handle it."
The singer's latest album, Spitfire, is due in stores April 9, with much of the album inspired by the highs and lows of the end of her first marriage and beginning of her second. One tune born of the affair is "Borrowed," in which she sings, "It's pathetic how I lie around / And wait all the damn time." LeAnn admits she did feel "pathetic" during the affair and subsequent media firestorm that happened in its wake.
"I couldn't get out of bed. I became this person that I never knew existed within me, and I did not like her at all."
When O'Dell pressed the subject, asking if that sense of desperation ever resulted in suicidal thoughts, LeAnn answered, "Any smart person would know that that is always a possibility, that you could always get that sad. I worried that that was a possibility, but I know I would never."
The Grammy winner assures she is in a much better place now, and that she and her actor husband are committed to their marriage and to their trust in one another. Still, she admits, "It could happen again," but quickly follows that with "I'm living my life and he is, too, in the moment of loving each other. We're super happy."
