Lena Dunham, Rihanna Criticism: 'Girls' Creator Calls Out Pop Star for Chris Brown Relationship, Pot Smoking

Rihanna's controversial love life, well-known love of marijuana and racy image has long been under fierce scrutiny. Now, the Golden Globe Award-winning creator and star of HBO's "Girls," Lena Dunham, has joined the chorus of Rihanna critics.

"[Fame is] an amazing thing and it's a platform that you have to take seriously," Dunham, 26, insists during a Jan. 21 interview on Alec Baldwin's "Here's the Thing" podcast. "Which is why sometimes, it's like ... I used to be really into Rihanna, that pop star, and then it's like -- again, I don't want to ever throw stones from my glass house -- but I follow her on Instagram and I just think about how many little girls beyond what I could even comprehend are obsessed with Rihanna."

"Like, you know, she left Barbados," Lena continues of the 24-year-old pop star. "She's had this amazing career, she's won a Grammy ... She's talented. And then she gets back together with Chris Brown and posts a million pictures of them smoking marijuana together on a bed," she says of Rihanna's highly publicized reunion with her physically abusive ex-boyfriend.

"And it cracks my heart in half in a way that makes me feel like I'm 95 years old," Dunham admits.

Lena goes on to reveal that the popularity of her own show helped her realize the importance of her influence as a public figure and potential role model for her fans.

"[I] had to become more conscious about what I say and what I promote, not in a way that stifles me, but just in a way where I realize now that there are 17-year-old girls who come up to me and tell me that the show means a lot to them."

When I saw the pictures of Rihanna after the Chris Brown attack I was sick. Now I still have that same feeling when I see anything from her. I don't like hearing her or brown's music anymore. It's really gross.

Rihanna lost all self respect for herself. Dont forget to add Miley Cirus to that list as well. THese young girls dont realize they dont have to act like a slut to be popular. Smoking weed is so accepted now in society and its a shame. I remember when people would try to hide smoking it from people especially if they are famous. This whole world is going to ****. To think these kind of people are the future of our country. Bring back the 80's already lol Better music and safer world compared to what we live in now.

If Rihanna is so oblivious. ignorant and arrogant enough to flaunt her disgusting re ignited relationship with the punk that beat the heck out of her 3 years ago in public's face. Dont expect world wide support the next time it happens and IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN RI-RI. Sorry you are on such a self destructive path.

Lena Dunham has a good point. WHY wqould a talented, beautiful girl like Rhianna get back together with the guy who beat her face bloody, and smoke illegal drugs with this same character? Is her self-esteem really THAT LOW?
