"(The band) said, 'Who can we get?' And I said, 'Let's get Rihanna'. We were shooting for the stars on everything and she was kind of a muse. Someone [from the record label] tried to reach out [to Rihanna] and I know she heard the song and liked it, but I think some wires just got crossed. But everything works out for a reason, and Janelle worked out to be the perfect choice. She brought the right element of a great soulful flavor that we wanted for the album." -- Jeff Bahsker

The producer of fun.'s hit album, Some Nights, revealed that Rihanna was the group's first choice to collaborate with. Not to say that Janelle Monáe didn't do an amazing job -- she is partly responsible for "We Are Young" becoming an overnight, Grammy-winning success!

Janelle Monae' is much more talented that the luckiest "entertainer" around - Rhianna. Janelle doesn't need a creep like Chris Brown, nor does she need to be practically naked in pics and while performing. She is a true entertainer and should be given even more recognition then she receives. It was a slap in the face that Fun. didn't even acknowledge her during their acceptance speech at the Grammys. An oversight? I think not. She should have walked up to the stage with them and not taken a back seat to their moment.
