The Feb. 24 Academy Awards ceremony capped off an eventful season of shows that gave major props to many of music's biggest names, including Adele, the Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and Taylor Swift.

Some of the biggest moments from the awards weren't in the acceptance speeches, but in the star-studded songs during the ceremonies. So, we narrowed down a list of the top five performances this season and it definitely wasn't easy!

1. Adele Singing "Skyfall" at the Academy Awards
Despite joking that she would struggle to hit some notes in her dress weighing "15 kilos" (that's 33 lbs for us Yanks), Adele's Academy Award performance of the cinematic "Skyfall" was a major hit! The "Someone Like You" singer solidified her name in Oscar history when the track earned her the statue for Best Original Song later that night.

2. Carrie Underwood Singing "Blown Away/ Two Black Cadillacs" at the Grammys
Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" earned her a Grammy for the Best Country Solo Performance, but it was her dress that had viewers buzzing! When Carrie sang the hit single and "Two Black Cadillacs," her white gown transformed as different designs were projected onto it. Designer Don O'Neill revealed the dress was composed of more than 100 yards of tulle and crinoline!

3. Jennifer Hudson Singing "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" at the Academy Awards
Despite only making it to the top seven in her "American Idol" season, Jennifer Hudson blew the Academy away with her Dreamgirls performance. (Seriously, she outshone Beyonce!) J.Hud reprised the Oscars stage to perform "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," the song that helped win her the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role accolade in 2007. Even next to iconic musicians like Barbra Streisand, Jennifer managed to bring down the house.

4. Taylor Swift Singing "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at the Grammys
In case UK-bred Harry Styles missed the memo, Taylor Swift used her Grammys performance to remind him that they are definitely never, ever getting back together. Taylor opened the show with her hit single, but adopted a British accent when she said, "So he calls me up and he's like, 'I still love you,' and I'm like, 'I'm sorry, I'm busy opening up the Grammys. And we're never getting back together, like, ever."
