Jada Pinkett Smith, Justin Bieber: Actress Defends Teen Stars Like Taylor Swift, Rihanna & More

In a lengthy Facebook post, Jade Pinkett Smith, has defended young artists who are being bullied in the media.

Jada, whose son, Jaden Smith, is close friends with Justin Bieber and was one of his opening acts in London, says the way younger celebrities are being treated is unfair/

"Are we bullying our young artists?" she writes. "How can we ask for our young stars to have a high level of responsibility if we are not demonstrating that same level of responsibility towards them? This last week, I had to really evaluate the communication in regard to our young artists in the media. I was trying to differentiate cyber-bullying from how we attack and ridicule our young stars through media and social networks. It is as if we have forgotten what it means to be young or even how to behave like good ol' grown folk."

Speaking about Justin, Jada adds, "Is it okay to continually attack and criticize a famous 19 year old who is simply trying to build a life, exercise his talents while figuring out what manhood and fame is all about as he carries the weight of supporting his family as well as providing the paychecks to others who depend on him to work so they can feed their families as well? Does that render being called a c--- by an adult male photographer as you try to return to your hotel after leaving the the hospital?"

Presumably referring to Rihanna and Taylor Swift, Jada goes on, "Or what about being a young woman in her early twenties, exploring the intracacies of love and power on the world stage? And should we shame a young woman for displaying a sense of innocence as she navigates through the murky waters of love, heartbreak, and fame?"

Lastly, Jada signs off, "Are these young people not allowed to be young, make mistakes, grow, and eventually transform a million times before our eyes? Are we asking them to defy the laws of nature because of who they are? Why can't we congratulate them for the capacity to work through their challenges on a world stage and still deliver products that keep them on top."

I’m grateful to Jada Pinkett-Smith for standing for Justin Bieber. I think far too often people forget that Bieber is still growing up. The media has become obsessed with Justin’s life. From the cars he drives, the women he dates and his friends circle. My goodness, let the boy breathe! I don’t think that his outburst was acceptable, but it was simply how he felt after being bullied and downright harassed by the media. Jada has first hand experience with this due to the media tearing apart her eclectic and highly intelligent daughter Willow Smith. Kudos to Jada Pinkett-Smith for standing up for young stars. I pray other Hollywood influencers will rally against the media for criticizing these young stars. Let them live!

I don't care whose defending him. He needs to grow up and take on responsiblity in the fast lane or he will never make it. It will be tough but life is tough and this is what he wanted. It has it downside and will just have to learn to handle it.

"he carries the weight of ... providing the paychecks to others who depend on him to work so they can feed their families."

In my opinion, at 19, he's indeed "carrying the weight of providing the paychecks of his support staff," and it's his support staff that need to advise and care for him, make sure he's on time, whisk him away from paparazzi and ensure his health and well-being. If that kid burns out it's their fault. He's late - it's their fault. Paparazzi assault him, their fault. His support team gets a piece of him every time he goes on stage - he needs to get a team that sees him as a human being first not a paycheck.

Did you see the reporter in London who was talking smack? Old, fat, bald (and probably broke). Justin should always remember that jealousy will make people say breathtakingly cruel things......

She's right. These stars work very hard at their craft and shouldn't be held to unreal standards. They are still young and entitled to their youthful mistakes.

Can we ask them to display a little common sense, act their age, and project a positive image?

I think they should not get so much publicity.i personally am sick of seeing these people in magazines,on tv,flaunting their sex lives, their money splurges, expensive vacations everywhere.Especially their sex lives. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, him underage, travelling all over the world, making out, staying together, who needs that in front of their face all the time?Who needs to see Will Smiths young 14 year old son and a young girl going to clubs and kissing and such? These kids do not live normal lives, have everything under the earth provided to them legal or not, pandered to and their parents choose to let them live these lives, have little if any input on purpose or not,the kids have little chance of any normal life or even making it to adulthood without being addicted to sex or drugs or alchol. A shame their parents don't exibit more control over them. Lohan,Cyrus,Spears, three examples right there.

Leave these kids alone, and let them walk through life and learn. Most of the people condemning them, have a poor life themselves. I agree with Jada. These kids arn't known in real life. You have no idea what they are like. Stop bashing them.
