Ed Sheeran, Bullying: British Singer Embraces the Ginger Red Hair He Was Once Teased For -- Potent Quotables

Ed Sheeran Bullied in School but Now Embraces His Red HairJason Merritt, Getty Images

"I was quite a weird kid when I was little. I wore big glasses, I had hearing problems, I had a stutter and I had ginger hair. But I am now a very successful musician and I have nothing to complain about, so I have come out the other side of it; I've blossomed. Being ginger can seem like a bad thing when you are young, but as a musician, it has been my saving grace -- because if you see a ginger kid on TV, and there is only one messy-haired ginger kid who plays guitar, it is very easy to find them on YouTube!" -- Ed Sheeran

British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is living proof that it does get better. Ed may have had to deal with bullying in school, but just look at how well his life has turned out for him! We bet none of his former bullies can say they've performed a duet with Elton John, or can count Taylor Swift as their gal pal.

I get inspired with those people that even though how much they are pulled down by others still they manage to stand up and fight bullies. We could really never tell each personalities that's why its better to be always prepared. Check this smart phone service I saw from the net. It has cool features like GPS location, 911 escalation and most a single press of a panic button could alert any one from your family. It's good to think that no matter what happens you can ask for help anywhere or anytime it may be.

Redheads! Ahhh my husband's favorite (in women) ! There are two extremes....drop dead gorgeous, or not so much. Most red-haired children are freckled carrot tops and different in looks from the majority simply because red hair is not that common. They usually grow up into handsome men or gorgeous women

What the hell IS it with the Brits and red (a.k.a. ginger) hair? So many of them, if they describe someone as being red- or ginger-haired, get a look on their face like a baby biting a grapefruit. Their antipodean cousins in Oz and N.Z. seem to be the same way, and I've never understood what all the fuss is about.

There's a quick solution for having red hair either dye it brown or blond. Why hasn't anyone thought of this.

Kids could be so mean. They would say I would rather be dead than red!

I'm a redhead and was teased when younger. I'm married to a redhead, and have a redheaded daughter. We all embrace our ginger locks. I find it so funny that folks tease those with red hair, but SO many people choose to dye their hair red or get red highlights. I think of the teasing as being more jealousy than anything else.

You shouldn't look at it as being rude, they are probably (in an offhanded way) complimenting you. Likely they are envious and would like you to share what brand/color so that they can acheive the same look. Kind of like "That color is so stunning, it *can't* be real!" My thing was that I've always had ridiculously long eyelashes -- they literally touch my eyebrows and are thick. People would always make remarks about my "Betty Boop" eyes, to the point where I developed a complex. I hated standing out and didn't like the attention (I was very shy) so I started trimming them with fingernail clippers. Fast forward years later, and I wish I didn't...because now they (for some reason) won't grow that long anymore. However.....the questions about my large breast size? Now **THAT** was rude. "Are they real?" "How much did those set you back?" "Do you stuff?", etc..........Embrace your beautiful hair and try to not be offended (unless it's something mean spirited) when people comment on it.

I was bullied for having red hair. I think the pumpkin head comment pushed me over the edge, but I punched the bully in the face and that was the end of the bullying.
