As reported by Noisecreep: the headline says it all! Avril Lavigne is getting hitched to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The Canadians met a few months ago during a songwriting session for Lavigne's upcoming album. The couple dated for six months.

There is a ten year age difference for the couple. He is 37, she 27. Kroeger has never been married and Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley.

According to PEOPLE magazine, Kroeger proposed on Aug. 8 and presented Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond engagement ring. No wedding date has been announced.
