Nelly Furtado Doesn't Want to Make Pop Music Anymore (VIDEO)

Nelly Furtado pop music Joseph Llanes for AOL

As Nelly Furtado hits the snow-covered road on the Canadian leg of her Spirit Indestructible tour which began Jan. 8, the B.C.-born singer says she's taking a detour from the North American pop scene to head in a more mature direction.

The 34-year-old mother had been away from the spotlight for the much of the past six years -- a not inconsequential time away considering her first hit "I'm Like a Bird" came out in 2000 -- but her hands haven't been idle. Furtado released a Spanish album in 2009 and has kept herself busy supporting various global causes that are near and dear to her, including Free the Children's initiatives to improve the state of education for girls around the world.

In September, Furtado released her fifth studio album The Spirit Indestructible. The record explores themes of nostalgia, personal growth, and even the Arab Spring in a song titled "Believers," displaying a clear lyrical departure from her 10-million-selling 2006 album Loose's rowdier club jams like "Promiscuous Girl" and "Maneater."

If anyone is wondering what Shakira and footballer boyfriend Gerard Pique's offspring would like, today is not your lucky day.

Pique took to Twitter in the early hours this morning to trick the masses into believing he was a father as a part of "Innocents' Day," Spain, Mexico and the Philippines' equivalent to April Fool's.

The footballer tweeted the faux announcement in Spanish: "Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thank you to everyone for your messages!"

Leaving the news to simmer with upwards of four million followers, Pique tweeted 10 hours later to reveal it was all a prank, saying, "We have a name! His name is Innocent! Happy Innocents' Day to all!"

Boy bands are back -- and so are their overdone 'dos. Teen-targeted pop has been known for non-threatening boys with questionable coifs since long before Justin Bieber's shaggy sweep-over fringe first set prepubescent pulses a-racing.

But now that the record-breaking British boys of One Direction have invaded our shores with their harmonies and hair styles -- the main guy's name is literally Harry Styles! -- it's important to remember the boy band hair that came before them.

From New Kids on the Block's rat tails and Justin Timberlake's *NSYNC-era ramen noodle hair to Menudo mullets and Fab Four mop tops, let's take a trip down memory lane to relive the hairdo horror shows and occasional good-looking locks.

Justin Bieber, Chrome Car: Blinding New Ride Could Land Pop Star in Legal Trouble

YouTube

Justin Bieber might be used to getting flack for his lyrics, music, height, and swag -- amongst other things -- but the singer's latest offense could get him into some actual legal trouble!

The 18-year-old singer chromed his $100,000 Fisker Carma eco-friendly hybrid car -- turning it into a virtual mirror on wheels -- and slapped on fuschia LEDs, AOL's Autoblog reports. The Biebs was spotted driving the car -- given to him by his manager during his 18th birthday appearance on "Ellen" -- as he left Chick-fil-A with girlfriend Selena Gomez. (Chicks dig expensive rides and chicken, apparently.)
