Back to '90s Musicians We Wish Would Make a Comeback

You don't have to be a hip-hop superfan to appreciate the infectious chemistry between Q-Tip and Phife Dawg -- A Tribe Called Quest's legendary rap duo. Both Queens natives and lifelong friends, the pair found a groove in the early '90s between their catchy rhythmic patterns and playful lyrical content that proved to be hugely influential (not to mention a production crew that included the great Ali Shaheed Muhammed and, eventually, a then-unknown J Dilla). With hits like 'Bonita Applebum' and 'Can I Kick It?' the group provided a good-vibe antidote to the posturing and sometimes violent bravado of '90s hardcore rap. Though their rocky relationship has been oft-documented, here's hoping Tip and Phifer can set aside their differences long enough to give the world another hip-hop masterpiece. -- Adam Horne
