When it comes to music's biggest fashion moments, Madonna's cone bra is rivaled only by Michael Jackson's glove. The iconic, glittery accessory was born of a collaboration between the King of Pop and costume designer to the stars, Bill Whitten. Whitten earned his spot in pop culture history in 1983 when MJ wore his now-signature single white glove onstage during a TV special celebrating the 25th anniversary of Motown. This was also the night Michael moonwalked his way into history, performing his signature dance for the very first time during a live rendition of "Billie Jean." The Swarovski crystal-encrusted glove -- along with the cropped black pant, which revealed the equally dazzling white socks -- were as functional as they were flashy. "It was very simple," Whitten told the Los Angeles Times in 1990 of his custom-made outfit for Jackson. "The audience was missing his hand and feet movements. They couldn't see the quick gestures he was making." The clothes worked with Michael to enhance his performance.

Whitten was also the man behind Elton John's capes and Stevie Wonder's caftans, to name a few other collaborations. But his glittery designs for MJ, worn during that iconic performance, and the singer's 1984 Victory tour, have sold for hundreds of thousands at auction and have made their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.
