Canada's queen of cool started her musical career worlds away from the chart-topping folk-pop she is so associated with now. At 15, she fronted a punk band called Placebo, then played bass and guitar in bands like Noah's Arkweld and By Divine Right. In the early-2000s, she performed with electro artist Peaches, calling herself "Bitch Lap Lap" -- think spandex, sock puppets and fake blood. (And yes, that's Feist getting all sexy with a bicycle in Peaches' 'Lovertits' video.)
