Beyonce Writes About Strict Diet Regimen in Destiny's Child's "Soul Survivors"

In 2002, fans were shocked to read about Destiny's Child ongoing struggles to success, and the girls were upfront about the harsh realities they faced. According to the book, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson could eat as they pleased, Beyonce Knowles and LeToya Luckett were forced to eat nonfat foods and followed a diet regimen. "It's a shame that a kid would have to worry about her weight," Beyonce writes. "But I was trying to get a record deal and that was a reality." In another section, Beyonce writes more of her imperfect life, "There are so many people out there who want to be in my shoes. Of course, they don't realize my shoes are uncomfortable and they give me blisters -- but I can't complain. People think I live in an MTV Barbie World, but I don't. I am by no means a living doll."
